P.E.P. is an award winning after school program. We are a non-profit organization running a variety of sports and enrichment classes.

PEP Session #1

Thank you for your interest in this year's after school activities. We are excited to offer activities on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The P.E.P. program consists of enrichment classes and sports, both competitive and intramural at Hale Charter Academy. There are three 10 week sessions throughout the school year.

Classes and Sports

Classes and practices are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:15 until 4:30pm unless otherwise noted.

Do you love volleyball? This is a great opportunity for boys and girls to play together and improve their skills. As the girls
season just ended, this is the perfect time to continue to keep your skills sharp. The boys competitive season is coming up in the spring. This is a chance to get ready for tryouts and see if you have what it takes to play with the other students in a fun, encouraging setting at Hale.

Get ready to experience one of the area’s hottest and most popular sports! This class is designed for beginning LAX players. Students will be shown basic passing, shooting, and catching techniques. Local expert coaches will share their knowledge of the game to all that are interested. Sign up and get ready to have fun. This is a great way to improve your skills. Please note that students are responsible to provide a helmet and mouthpiece. These items are REQUIRED in order for students to participate.

Learn the basics of the Spanish language. Students in this class will practice reading, writing and conversing in a fun and creative setting. Get an early start on learning a foreign language. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Did you know Justin Beiber is an avid art collector? Are you interested to know where all the cool stuff comes from? Want to make amazing pieces yourself? Taught by Riley St. Caro, LA based DJ and teaching artist - students will experiment and explore around traditional media like illustration, street art, tattoos, graphic design, apps, photography, skateboard art, art toys, contemporary art history, pop culture, music, etc. (includes materials fee)

Ultimate Frisbee

Do you love frisbee? Students will learn the fundamentals of throwing, marking, and playing. Each day you will practice these techniques and learn various strategies during scrimmages. Get a great workout and have fun at the same time!!! Participants will also receive their own frisbee.

World Design Art Class

It’s time to get creative! Sign up and start spending your afternoons working with different artistic mediums including
pencils, paint, pastels, and clay. You can do all of this while being inspired by artists from around the world. We will be learning about the elements and principles of art while focusing on a dynamic new project each week. (includes materials fee)

Golf 101

Students will learn about, improve upon, and fine tune the following skills in golf: Balance, golf stance, grip, full swing, chipping motion, putting stroke, scoring/rules, and game etiquette.

Beginning Drama

Mr. Amigo will be teaching an afterschool drama class where students will work on character development, voice and vocal projection, movement, stage direction, and improvisational skills. The class is designed for students to have fun and learn while enjoying themselves in a stress-free environment. No previous experience is required, all you need is a sincere interest in drama and in improving yourself.

Minecraft

If you’re a fan of Minecraft or are just wondering what all the excitement is about, this is the club for you! Minecraft is a game that allows players to build with a variety of different blocks in a 3D generated world, requiring creativity from players. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering and crafting. We have our own server so the game is played in house with a world that students have set up. Game rules will be developed by the participants. Includes a $15 materials fee. Open to all 6th-8th grade students.

Costs include a $25 non-refundable registration fee.  All requests for refunds must be submitted prior to the start of the second week of the session.
 
Student Eligibility Requirements:
1) Good citizenship and behavior are expected at all times, especially when dealing with coaches, instructors and volunteers. Poor citizenship/sportsmanship displayed by student and/or parent/guardian will result in immediate student suspension/removal from the P.E.P. program without refund.
2) Students must maintain satisfactory academic marks (min. 2.0 gpa) to participate in any competitive programs.
3) PEP has the right to remove students at any time due to safety concerns or behavior issues.
4) Student must be registered online before student can participate. No exceptions!!!
5) Participants must show up to practices and classes regularly and on time.
6) All Financial Aid requests must be submitted prior to the first day of the session.
7) All requests for refunds must be submitted prior to the start of the second week of the session.
8) Outdoor activities will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.There are no make up days
for missed classes/activities.
9) A non-refundable $25 enrollment fee is included in all registration fees.
